La Garde-Guerin, a village about 2600 feet above sea level, dominates on one side the Chassezac Gorge and on the other the Regordane Way. To the south, on a clear day, you can see Mont Ventoux, to the south west Mont Lozere, to the west and north Monts Ardechois and to the north Goulet.

The history of the village is linked to the Regordane Way. Indeed, since Roman times, this has linked Le Puy en Velay to Saint Gilles du Gard (a port on the Mediterranean sea). It was the only way of communication between the centre and the south of France so it was a very important trade route.
At the end of tbe 9th century, the Regordane Way was the only way who crossed the France Kingdom.
